hygiene of the mind

Cleanse your mind

Dada JP Vaswani states, "By focusing on positive thoughts, we contribute to our own good health and well-being."

All of us are aware of the hygiene of the body. How many of us, though, devote attention to the hygiene of the mind?

Body and mind are inseparable. The mind is known to influence the heart, the endocrine glands, the nervous system, blood circulation and other vital organs. When the mind is affected by negative thinking, all these systems are also affected, leading to ill-health.

Thoughts are forces. Thoughts have power. Thoughts produce vibrations, which affect the tissues and the blood chemistry. Worry, anger, excitement, tension—all this can adversely affect the well-being of an individual. Take the digestive system, for example. It is a proven fact that anxiety and stress lead to acidity, ulcers and other more severe disorders.

On the other hand, positive thoughts are healing, health-giving and vital forces. A happy mind is the greatest aid to a healthy body. By focusing on positive thoughts, we contribute to our own good health and well-being.

Mental alertness, self-confidence, freedom from anxiety and fear, and the ability to take things in your stride—that is all it takes to turn your thoughts into positive, healing forces! That is why people who are mentally healthy lead better and happier lives than those who are merely physically fit. People who are mentally alert and active, continues to lead useful and satisfying lives even in old age, when their physical health begins to fail them.
