supreme reality

Know Thyself: Supreme Reality is experienced

"That Being, that Supreme Person, it has no feet or hand yet it is so swift and grasps faster than anything." - Sri M

He pervades all and everything. Then, it says:

Sarvasya prabhumisanam sarvasya saranam suhrt ||

Understand that Supreme Being because of whom all the senses function, yet who is devoid of all senses, for He is the Lord and the ruler, and above all, the refuge of all and the friend of all.

Sarvasya saranam suhrt ||

The great refuge of all, and the friend of all!

Finally, after going through everything; after being tossed around by the vagaries of nature and the foolishness of our own actions, one finally surrenders and finds Supreme rest and great refuge in that Supreme, All-pervading Being who need not be searched for anywhere, but resides in the deep recesses of one’s heart.

How wonderful is this message! Can we think about it for a second? Isn’t it profound and moving? Isn’t it a way out of the confusion and the conflict, the pain and the sorrow?

The embodied soul that resides in the city of nine gates, moving to and fro in the outside world, is the controller of the whole world–of the stationary and the moving.

Now, this embodied soul, this thumb-sized Being, sits in the city of nine gates, which is the human body, moving to and fro in the outside world, yet is the controller of the whole world, the world that moves and the world that does not.

Without feet or hand, yet swift and grasping, that Being, sees without the eyes and hears without the ears, and knows what is to be known, although of Him there is none who knows.

Vasi sarvasya lokasya sthavarasya charasya cha ||

I read this out aloud because these readings, the tune, the vibrations of Sanskrit readings, by itself produces a calmness of mind, which taken to its logical conclusion, can bring about that stillness and tranquility, which focuses one in the center of one’s heart, where the in-dwelling Supreme Reality is seen face to face, or is experienced.

Sa vetti vedyam cha na cha tasyasti vetta |

Tamahuragryam purusam mahantam ||

Without feet or hand, yet swift and grasping, that Being, sees without the eyes and hears without the ears, and knows what is to be known, although of Him there is none who knows.

They call that Being, the primeval Being, the Supreme Person.

Now that Being, that Supreme Person, it has no feet or hand yet it is so swift and grasps faster than anything.
