Soulveda - Is communication gap ruining your relationship? Here’s how you can fix it

One of my early memories is of my interactions with my father. Every day after school, we talked about homework, people we knew, and life in general. It didn’t matter how much of it my kid brain could process, but our talks went on. In retrospect, these myriad conversations from childhood might have cemented the role of communication in mine and my sibling’s lives. As an adult, I came to rely on open communication as a tool in every context of life, be it work or personal relationships.

Taking this learning to a macro viewpoint, it would be no stretch to say that communication is the backbone of an evolved society. On it hinges every relationship, every interaction. If humans communicate through words, animals use non-verbal communication with each other and with humans. All accomplishments, aspirations, and progress stand on a solid foundation of communication.

But theory aside, how often do we acknowledge the role of communication in our relationships, especially the intimate ones? Research indicates, while going through the motions of a relationship, couples miss out on communication. And in times of conflict, this lack only makes matters worse.

So, the question is what to do and how. As hard as it may seem, instead of sulking and giving the silent treatment to each other, initiate a conversation.

Let’s find out through this article how we can turn communication into the strongest tool at our disposal.

With love,
