prana sustains entire universe

Know Thyself: Prana sustains entire Universe

"The wind, the fire, the water, the earth, the speech, the ear and mind and the eye go where the Prana leads them. Being satisfied with the answer, they praise Prana since they are convinced of its superiority." - Sri M

So life–the breath, the Prana, the energy that sustains the body–said to the wind, the fire, the water, the earth, the speech, the ear and mind and the eye who thought “we sustain and support this body,” don’t live under this delusion that you alone are supporting the body.

I, the energy of life, the sum total of all these energies, divide myself into five and sustain and support this body.

But, the mind, the eye, the ear, the speech did not believe Prana; they didn’t believe the deity of life! Then, they saw that the Prana seemed to go upward from the body, and when it went up, all of them went up with it. When he settled down, all of them settled down.

It is similar to how the bees go up when the queen bee goes up and they settle down when the queen bee settles down. So, the wind, the fire, the water, the earth, the speech, the ear and mind and the eye go where the Prana leads them. Being satisfied with the answer, they praise Prana since they are convinced of its superiority.

Now, here is a beautiful link between the Universal and the particular. Just as Prana sustains the entire Universe, the energy that resides in his body is the Prana.

When it settles down in the highest of the spiritual spheres in utter peace and satisfaction of blissfulness, one praises life! It is that one energy, the Supreme Energy.

It divides itself into five parts, Udana, Samana, Vyana, Apana and Prana and yet belongs to one single breath, which moves through the central channel of the Sushumna. When, through meditation, the breath is made to go up, then hearing, sight, feeling, mind and everything else goes up with it.

And, when it settles down in the highest of the spiritual spheres in utter peace and satisfaction of blissfulness, one praises life! It is that one energy, the Supreme Energy.

It is this energy that as fire, burns and as the sun, gives light. It is this Supreme Energy that is the rain, the wind, the earth, the matter; it is God. He is being and non-being! Which means he is consciousness as well as that which is inanimate and unconscious. It is also that which is immortal.

Just as the hub of a wheel from which spokes extend, everything is established in Prana. The verses, the formulas, the chants, the sacrifice, the valour, the wisdom, Rig, the Yajus, the Samas, they are all spokes from the hub of a wheel, which is the Supreme Being, the essence of all life. The organs are the spokes and the hub, Prana, sustains them.

As the Lord of beings, Prana moves in the womb. It is then itself born as a living being. Oh! The sense organs here bring offering to Thee who dwellest with the vital breaths. The Prana, also the Prajapathi, becomes the seed and, from the father through the mother, becomes the son, becomes the child and yet even in the child dwells that Supreme Being in the form of the vital breath!
