Bright End Corner

Bright End Corner is a picturesque spot that lives up to its name. Located just 2 kilometres from Almora’s main market, this viewpoint offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayas during sunrise and sunset. As I stood there, the golden hues of the sun setting behind the snow-capped peaks left me awestruck and in a contemplative mood.

This spot is a haven for both nature enthusiasts and photographers, so do not  forget your camera when visiting this unforgettable sight.

Kasar Devi Temple

Perched atop a hill, the Kasar Devi Temple is not just a place of worship, it’s a beautiful place where seekers can find peace and spirituality. As I trekked the hill, the calmness and positive energy that is often hard to find in my urban life, enveloped me in no time.

The temple, known for its serene atmosphere and stunning views has attracted many, even spiritual leaders and thinkers like Swami Vivekananda and Bob Dylan. It’s an ideal spot for meditation or if you simply want to soak in the beauty of the Himalayas.

Binsar wildlife sanctuary

My visit to the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary was a nature lover’s dream come true. Truly, this sanctuary is perfection personified for wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers. The dense forests are home to a variety of flora and fauna, including leopards, barking deer and numerous bird species. And as I discovered, a trek through the sanctuary provides an opportunity to connect with nature in a unique manner.

Like many places of Almora, Zero Point, a viewing spot within the sanctuary, also offers panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks.

Chitai Golu Devta Temple

The Chitai Golu Devta Temple is a unique spiritual destination in Almora known for its quirky tradition of offering written petitions to Lord Golu. Devotees write their wishes on paper and tie them at the temple premise. The temple’s intricate wooden architecture adds to its charm. As I entered the temple, I was greeted by a sea of bells hanging all around, creating a melodious symphony with the gentle mountain breeze.

It is said that the Golu Devta temple is not just a place of worship; it’s a testament to the faith and traditions of the Kumaon region. I agree wholeheartedly.

My spontaneous decision to explore Almora turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip to Uttarakhand. Each of these attractions offered a unique experience and left an indelible mark on my mind.

Almora is a travel destination where nature, spirituality and tradition come together in perfect harmony, making it a must-visit.
