Living with Love & Compassion

By embracing love, compassion and a vegetarian diet, we can truly express our devotion to God and create a more compassionate world.

There is a simple question that all saints ask of us: How can we claim to love God if we do not love our fellow human beings? How can we call ourselves human beings if we watch our brothers and sisters suffering and struggling?

God cannot be satisfied with our adoration and devotion if they come only from our lips – for words and alphabets cannot make a prayer. It is our hearts and our own lives that must bear witness to our devotion, and what better way to achieve this than through the service of our fellow human beings and all creatures that breathe the breath of life?

Change your diet, and you will change your life for the better. In this case, the difference between the right and wrong choice is the difference between life and death.

A vegetarian diet includes all of the following – grains such as rice, wheat, maize, millets, etc; pulses such as dals and lentils (beans as they are called in the west); roots and tubers like potatoes, carrots and onions; fresh and dry fruits, like apples, mango, watermelon, banana, as well as almonds, cashews, peanuts, etc; and the abundant and plentiful supply of fresh, green, leafy and non-leafy vegetables that God has blessed the earth with!
Don’t become the slave of your appetite; do not allow the slaughter of innocent animals to please your palate. Therefore, eat right, and also for all the right reasons. Choose good food, not for its taste or its appeal to the palate. Food should be tasty and pleasant, of course. But that is not its primary purpose. We eat to live, we don’t live to eat.

Let us live with love and compassion, and we will make the world a better place!
